EUGENIA POZAS

Contemporary Art

When we start painting portraits of people again,

I’ll search my drawers, pull out my sketches,

messy and sharp, and say: I have always drawn them.

The thing about loving people is

that it doesn’t linger on the abstract.

It demands of you a realness,

the fine trace of a pencil to contour the shape of a nose,

the right color to capture the eyes, piercing, alive,

and momentary.
